Welcome to the CAMP3 Clubhouse

Located in Madarao Mountain Resort, Japan!

Clubhouse Madarao is a place for CAMP3 members to come and stay when joining snowboard camps. It is a super-cosy 15 bedroom lodge, just 100m away from the chairlifts in the resort of Madarao.

The clubhouse is setup to be a home away from home, for riders to enjoy relaxing together in the evenings and on days off from camps. All bedrooms are en-suite and range in size from two-person double rooms to four-person family rooms. The clubhouse has a tuning room, a big multi-purpose hang out / stretching / movie room, and a cosy little bar for after evening drinks.

The clubhouse is officially operated under a Japanese registered company "CAMP3 Clubhouses Japan".

Where is Madarao?

Madarao Mountain Resort and the Madarao Kogen village is found on the border between the prefectures of Nagano and Niigata, in the heart of the Japanese Alps.

One of the main reasons CAMP3 enjoys having Madarao as our Japan base is the easy access to so many amazing resorts in the region. Madarao is about a 30mins drive to both Nozawa Onsen and the Myoko resorts like Akakura and Suginohara. It is about 45mins to Lotte Arai, X-Jam and Ryuoo, and 1hr to Shiga Kogen.

We ride at a selection of these resorts on our two week camps and choose them depending on the terrain offerings and snow conditions at the time.

Getting to Madarao

The easiest way to get to Madarao is via Shinkansen (bullet train) to Iiyama ("iiyama JR"). It takes about 2hrs from Tokyo, which makes it super convenient for international arrivals.

From Iiyama, it is a short 20mins drive up the hill to the clubhouse. All of our Madarao camps provide pick-ups and drop-offs on camp arrival and departure days.

More detailed information on how to get to Madarao is provided in our Clubhouse Welcome Book PDF below.

"When I arrived it was awesome to be greeted by warm and welcoming staff eager to show me around. The “Clubhouse” is run by snowboarders for snowboarders and I instantly sensed the vibe. It’s definitely a step up from a typical backpackers, more of a mountain lodge, and I smiled at the selection of powder boards hanging from the hallway walls.

My ensuite room was spacious and clean with all the usual necessities. I could even see the lift from the window. Each morning we were fed very well: eggs, toast, muesli and proper flat whites, then to the drying room to collect our dry gear and toasty warm boots, before we were briefed and headed out. Everything was really well organised.

In the evenings we relaxed with the locals in the cosy and popular bar, sampling all of the excellent whisky’s around the fire. The tech room is another nice touch where you can wax up, dial in your powder binding angles and resharpen those edges. They really have thought of everything!"
