Hiro was born in Niigata, Japan, and has spent most of his adult life in the snow industry around the world. After spending many seasons down in New Zealand at Whakapapa, then Cardrona, Hiro reached his SBINZ Level Three certification, and is currently diversifying into guiding with the Japanese Mountain Guide Association.

Splitting his time between Hokkaido and Niigata/Nagano, Hiro spends most of the winter on his splitboard exploring backcountry lines, whilst guiding adventure trips, teaching private lessons and coaching camps with CAMP3. Hiro and his wife Sachi are also the lodge managers at Clubhouse Madarao.
