CAMP3 Recommended Rescue & Insurance Cover
CAMP3 endorses Global Rescue as the best worldwide option for evacuation / rescue services and travel insurance.
1. Travel Insurance - Required on all camps outside of your home country.
2. Rescue / Evacuation Services with Global Rescue Membership - Strongly recommended on all camps that go outside of the ski area boundary.
Differences between Travel Insurance & Global Rescue Membership
Travel insurance and a Global Rescue membership are not the same thing. Travel insurance is designed to provide financial reimbursement for trip interruption and medical insurance coverage, while membership with Global Rescue provides emergency field rescue, medical evacuation and transport, and medical advisory services at no additional cost.
It is mandatory for all CAMP3 members to maintain travel insurance when joining our camps, outside of their home country.
The evacuation/rescue service that comes with Global Rescue Membership is highly recommended on all camps that go outside of the ski area, regardless of nationality.
For example:
- - A Kiwi travelling to Japan for a camp must have travel insurance, whereas they will not require this in NZ.
- - A Japanese resident will require travel insurance when attending a camp in New Zealand, but not when joining a camp in Japan. However, if they wish to join a backcountry camp in Japan, we still recommend Global Rescue membership.
Every country in which we operate is slightly different.
New Zealand
- Travel Insurance
- Mandatory on all camps if you are a non-resident of New Zealand. This must cover snowboarding off-piste and we suggest it include trip interruptions.
- Global Rescue Membership
- Useful to cover emergency rescue costs, but not mandatory as rescue services in NZ are comprehensive.
Japan
- Travel Insurance
- Mandatory on all camps if you are a non-resident of Japan. This must cover snowboarding off-piste and we suggest it includes trip interruptions.
- Global Rescue Membership
- Highly recommended on two-week terrain-specific camps (unless you have an alternate rescue coverage), such as the Japow Steep & Deep Camp and the Backcountry Explorer Camp. Not required on one-week All-Mountain Camps or Level Two & Level Three training camps.
Europe
- Travel Insurance
- Mandatory on all camps if you are a non-resident of the specific country in which the camp is being held. This must cover snowboarding off-piste and we suggest it includes trip interruptions.
- Global Rescue Membership
- Highly recommended unless you have an alternate rescue coverage based in Europe.
China
- Travel Insurance
- Mandatory on all camps if you are a non-resident of China.
- Global Rescue Membership
- Highly recommended on backcountry camps if you are a non-resident of China.
Disclaimer
CAMP3 Snowboarding is not liable for your insurance or rescue cover decisions. Whilst we have researched many offerings and found Global Rescue to be the best, it is still YOUR OWN DECISION as to which company to use. CAMP3 will not be liable for claims denied, regardless of which company you choose.
We highly recommend maintaining rescue or evacuation coverage (such as Global Rescue Membership) for any camps that go outside of the ski area boundary. If you choose not to maintain rescue or evacuation coverage, you will be liable for all rescue costs involved if you get injured and require evacuation.
IMPORTANT: CAMP3 will not refund any portion of a camp due to injury during the camp or within the 4-week no-refund period prior to the camp. This is what travel insurance is for! Please ensure you have sufficient insurance in place.
