Overview

This one week intensive training camp is specifically aimed at developing the TEACHING skills required for the SBINZ Level Two certification.

Here at CAMP3, we believe in building the initial skills required for the L2 standard together in a camp environment, then participants can continue their own development as best suits them; whether it's more study, further teaching experience or even the Level Two EXAM camp.

This instructor training camp is based out of the CAMP3 Clubhouse in Madarao Mountain Resort, Japan. It includes 5 days of intensive training with CAMP3's top-level coaches (who are current SBINZ Level Two Examiners), 7 nights of accommodation and 5 days of lift passes. The coaching is approximately 5 hours per day.

During the training, we focus heavily on building the teaching skills necessary to reach the SBINZ Level Two standard. This includes understanding new teaching methodologies, building analysis skills, learning different progression and tasks, and putting it all into practice with mock teaching scenarios.

We value building an inclusive, team culture to create a supportive environment for everyone, whilst all working towards a collective goal that is the L2 certification. Unlike other training providers, our maximum group size is 6, meaning smaller groups and more individual attention (note that when joining the SBINZ certifications the max group size is 8).

This camp also includes a welcome dinner, 2 additional dinner nights during your stay at the clubhouse, plus transfers to and from the local train station. The start and end dates specified above are the arrival and departure days (i.e. not on snow).

Learn the core L2 teaching methodologies
Understand how to build progressions for developmental lessons
Develop presentation skills in preparation for the L2 teach exam
Discover tasks and skills to teach intermediate freestyle
Work on tools and tactics for teaching intermediate freeriding
Build progressions for intermediate level carving
Learn how to analyse intermediate level riders properly
Prepare for the analysis assessments in the L2 exam
Understand and implement corrective teaching tactics
Practise teach with peers working towards the L2 exam standard

This camp is 100% focused on intensive coaching, helping to prepare you for the SBINZ L2 teaching standards.

Ability Levels

This camp is aimed at Level One certified instructors from any English-speaking system. At the minimum, you should be linking turns confidently on blue and some black terrain. Read about our five-stage ability level here.

Inclusions

Coaching & Training: A total of 5 days of training at 5hrs per day.
Lift Passes: 5 days of lift passes at Madarao and Tangram Resort.
Accommodation: 7 nights of accommodation, with daily breakfast, at our very own Japan CAMP3 Clubhouse Madarao.
Food: Daily breakfast (with a wider variety of choice than previous years) and 3 evening meals spread out over the camp.
Transport: Daily travel to each resort and transfers to and from Iiyama Station.
Off-snow Additions: Transport down to the local onsen 2-3 evenings per week, with time to eat dinner at the restaurant. Video analysis sessions to breakdown and analyse your riding in more detail. Evening beers and banter with the crew!

Not included: flights, train travel to Iiyama, insurance (must cover off-piste and park riding) and your snowboard equipment.

Optional Add-ons

Level Two Exam Camp Add-on

Turn your single week of training into 3 weeks and join the SBINZ Level Two Teach and Ride exam modules, by adding the Level Two EXAM camp from 28-02-26 to 14-03-26.

Doing a full week of teaching-focused training, then into the Level Two exam camp (which includes a further 4 days of training) is the ideal combo to help prepare you for the SBINZ L2.

Accommodation & Transport

Accommodation is on a twin-share basis (with ensuite bathrooms), at the vibing CAMP3 Clubhouse Madarao (just 100m from the chairlifts of Madarao Mountain Resort), with daily breakfast and a welcome dinner on the first night. Check out CAMP3 Clubhouse Madarao here.

A VERY limited number of single occupancy rooms may be available at an additional cost of ¥‎5000 per night (¥‎35,000 for the duration of this camp). Transfers available from Iiyama Shinkansen Station (bullet train direct from Tokyo) are available on the camp start and end dates. Dates shown are accommodation arrival and departure days.
