Overview

This one week intensive training camp is specifically aimed at developing the riding skills required for the SBINZ Level Two certification.

Here at CAMP3, we believe in building the initial skills required for the L2 standard together in a camp environment, then participants can continue their own riding development as best suits them; whether it's further camps, self-guided practice, or another season of riding experience.

This instructor training camp is based out of the CAMP3 Clubhouse in Madarao Mountain Resort, Japan. It includes 5 days of intensive training with CAMP3's top-level coaches (who are current SBINZ Level Two Examiners), 7 nights of accommodation and 5 days of lift passes. The coaching is approximately 5 hours per day.

During the training, we explore the fun and friendly terrain available throughout the resorts of Madarao and Tangram, where tree-lined gullies, playful sidehits and epic powder stashes are ready and waiting. The camp also includes a 2 day trips to neighbouring resorts of Nozawa and Myoko. Our coaches will balance the time efficiently between developing your freeride, freestyle and carving, whilst also providing lots of feedback on your demos.

We value building an inclusive, team culture to create a supportive environment for everyone, whilst all working towards a collective goal that is the L2 certification. Unlike other training providers, our maximum group size is 6, meaning smaller groups and more individual attention (note that when joining the SBINZ certifications the max group size is 8).

This camp also includes a welcome dinner, 2 additional dinner nights during your stay at the clubhouse, plus transfers to and from the local train station. The start and end dates specified above are the arrival and departure days (i.e. not on snow).

Build Level Two movement patterns
Improve overall board performance
Develop your advanced carving
Improve freeriding on black off-piste terrain

Receive specific feedback on all L2 demos
Develop analysis skills based on your own riding

This camp is 100% focused on intensive coaching, helping to prepare you for the L2 riding standards.

Ability Levels

This camp is aimed at Level One certified instructors from any English-speaking system. At the minimum, you should be linking turns confidently on blue and some black terrain. Read about our five-stage ability level here.

Inclusions

Coaching & Training: A total of 5 days of training at 5hrs per day.
Lift Passes: 5 days of lift passes at each resort you ride at.
Accommodation: 7 nights of accommodation, with daily breakfast, at our very own Japan CAMP3 Clubhouse Madarao.
Food: Daily breakfast (with a wider variety of choice than previous years) and 3 evening meals spread out over the camp.
Transport: Daily travel to each resort and transfers to and from Iiyama Station.
Off-snow Additions: Transport down to the local onsen 2-3 evenings per week, with time to eat dinner at the restaurant. Video analysis sessions to breakdown and analyse your riding in more detail. Evening beers and banter with the crew!

Not included: flights, train travel to Iiyama, insurance (must cover off-piste and park riding) and your snowboard equipment.

Optional Add-ons

Freestyle Versatility Camp Add-on

Turn your single week of training into 3 weeks of amazingness, by adding the Freestyle Versatility camp running from 01/02/26-12/02/26.

The SBINZ Level Two has a strong freestyle element to it, including jumps and boxes in the park, and the ability to perform 180s in all directions out of the park. If this level of riding concerns you, we strongly recommend joining us for our Freestyle Versatility camp, where your park riding skills will go through the roof.

In conjunction with the Level Two Training Camp, we can offer the 2-week Freestyle Versatility camp at a reduced cost of ¥‎425,000.

Accommodation & Transport

Accommodation is on a twin-share basis (with ensuite bathrooms), at the vibing CAMP3 Clubhouse Madarao (just 100m from the chairlifts of Madarao Mountain Resort), with daily breakfast and a welcome dinner on the first night. Check out CAMP3 Clubhouse Madarao here.

A VERY limited number of single occupancy rooms may be available at an additional cost of ¥‎5000 per night (¥‎35,000 for the duration of this camp). If you wish to reserve a single occupancy room, please indicate this in the comments box in the booking form below. Note that we cannot guarantee everyone a single occupancy room.

Transfers available from Iiyama Shinkansen Station (bullet train direct from Tokyo) are available on the camp start and end dates. Dates shown are accommodation arrival and departure days.
