Overview

One week of big mountain backcountry exploring based out of Tignes and Val-d'Isère, in the heart of the French Alps. This camp is an all-inclusive package including accommodation, coaching, lift passes, transfers and meals.

Based out of Tignes, a group of high-altitude French villages located near the Italian border, this camp will be focused on exploring the immense and extensive backcountry terrain available right on the door step to the snowboard-friendly accommodation. This camp will focus on advanced and expert backcountry. Tignes and Val-d'Isère provide dozens of easy-access backcountry spots, that only the locals know. A short 10min hike can get you fresh lines in a challenging chute, where as 1hr on a splitboard will get you fully into the wilderness with on one else around.

Whilst this is a backcountry-focused camp, we will be riding within resort occasionally to help develop techniques, access necessary routes, and when it's not safe to go too far from the resort.

The lead coach on this camp will be Rhys Jones. Tignes is his home (yes, he lives there), so he knows all the secret spots and best places no matter what the snow conditions are like.

Skills & Focuses

Some of the core skills focused on during this camp include (but are not limited to):

  • Begin building your understanding and experience of the backcountry
  • Ride natural backcountry features like chutes, drops and windlips
  • Learn how to use basic avalanche rescue equipment
  • Understand backcountry travel techniques
  • Learn how to use a splitboard properly
  • Build confidence riding in exposed terrain

Please read our FAQs for further understanding of how the ratio of coaching and guiding is applied on camps.
